This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is “Authors I’d Love to Meet”, but I thought it would be fun to talk about authors I’m really looking forward to meet this year. I’ve never attended a book signing event before so over the summer I booked to go to a bunch of them and I couldn’t be more excited! Some of these authors I’ve read books from while for others I’ve just heard amazing things and I’m really intrigued to hear more about them in person. Let’s begin!
10 Amazing Authors I’m Excited to Meet This Year
1. Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
It’s no secret that Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda has been my favourite YA contemporary read of the year. So when I saw Becky and Adam were doing a book tour for their upcoming collaboration What If It’s Us (which I’m currently reading!), I had to sign up. I also read Adam Silvera’s They Both Die at the End earlier this year and have been following him on Twitter since his debut came out, so it’s safe to say I’m pretty excited to meet them and get my books signed!
2. David Levithan and Patrick Ness
I’ve heard so many good things about both these authors’ books and I’m hoping that attending this event will motivate me to finally read them! I’ve owned Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking trilogy since 2013 and it’s really about time I got to them.
3. E. Lockhart, Emily Barr and S.K. Wright
One of the most hyped book releases of 2014 I remember was E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars. It seemed like everyone had read that book, and of course I did too. I still think about it sometimes so I’m really looking forward to Meet E. Lockhart and hearing what her book Genuine Fraud is all about. I haven’t read any books by Emily Barr or S.K. Wright but I’ve seen the covers around so I guess I’ll find out what they’re about soon.
4. Markus Zusak
I think most people can say they’ve read and loved The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and he is finally releasing a new book after 12 YEARS. I loved The Book Thief and I am really eager to get my hands on his new novel and hear all he has to say about it!
5. Jodi Picoult
I’ve been wanting to read a Jodi Picoult book for such a long time now and seeing as she was having an event to promote her new book, A Spark of Light, it seemed like the perfect time to give her books a try! I’m hoping I’ll fall in love with this book and Jodi Picoult’s writing as so many other did so that I can then read some of her more famous works.
6. Min Jin Lee
Over the course of the last few months I’ve heard such fantastic things about Pachinko. It’s a historical fictional family epic and it’s size and density makes it a bit intimidating at first glance. However, I love books that merge literature with politics so I’m excited to hear about this book of a South Korean family living in Japan in the 20th century (and hopefully read it by the end of the year!).
Have you read any books by these authors? Are some of them your favourites? Have you ever attended a book signing? Who’s would you die to attend to? Let’s chat in the comments ♥
As always, if you did this week’s prompt, feel free to link it and I’ll check it out!
Sounds like there’s a lot of fun bookish events in your future, Mara. Hope you enjoy the chance to meet all of these authors. 🙂

I’ve only read one Lockhart book but I think she’d be interesting to meet, just from what I’ve seen in interviews and whatnot. It would be interesting to hear about her process and where she gets her inspiration or ideas from.

Yes, definitely! I’ve also just read one of her books but I’d love to know where she gets her ideas from and hopefully I’ll get to hear about that in the event! 🙂

I haven’t read books by these authors yet, but I’ve heard of some of them, like Adam Silvara.
I have gone to a couple of book signings. I spent the night in the Dallas Cowboy Stadium’s parking lot to meet Glenn Beck (I was the first there). That same trip, I met Tim Ballard, who I later discovered is not only an author, but he is a hero that rescues children from sex slavery. I met Eric Metaxis when he was giving a lecture to a bunch of law school students, and I met L.L. Cool J. and got his book signed when I was in college.

I can’t wait for Bridge of Clay either! If he had a 12 year break between books it’s sure to be amazing!
And yay, glad to know I’m not the only one!! I feel so bad because his books have been on my shelf for over 5 years but there’s just too many books!

Wow! Where do you live that so many amazing authors do signings near enough that you can attend? I can sometimes get up to DC for a signing, and there are a few authors who have come to my nearest town, but I can’t imagine being able to go to that many signings in a year — that’s more like 7 or 8 years’ worth for me. Have a WONDERFUL time at all of them!

I’ve been to a couple of Jodi Picoult events, she’s really great, her stories about research for her books are always really interesting! I so wish I could go to a Markus Zusak event, I loved The Book Thief, but he’s not coming to where I live when he comes to the UK, sadly.

I did notice that most authors come to London when they do stop by the UK for a book tour which is such a shame but I do hope you get to meet Markus Zusak eventually! 🙂
