I’ve Got Mail! Mini Book Haul

I recently made an online order of books I’ve been really wanting and I thought I’d share them with you! I have tried to cut back on purchasing too many because my TBR is an endless pile of books I’ll probably never get to, so I made sure to only get books I knew I would for sure read. Here they are:

My Lady Jane – Ever since the second book in this companion series, My Plain Jane, came out I’ve been seeing nothing but praise and adoration for the first book My Lady Jane. From what I’ve gathered it’s a comical historical retelling of Lady Jane Grey and Edward VI. I’ve heard it’s supposed to be a very lighthearted, silly and over the top story full of laugh out loud moments and humour. A lot of people have cited snort-laughing as a side effect of reading this book and I am eager to find out if it’s true!

Truly Devious – At first this was going to be a cover buy. I had no clue what this book was about and wasn’t familiar with Maureen Johnson’s writing. However before I made the decision to purchase it, I saw a few reviews of it on the blogosphere and they were all positive! They made my decision a lot easier and now I’m really looking forward to reading it. Murder mystery at a private academy for the gifted? Sign me up!

Warcross – I still can’t believe I haven’t picked up a new Marie Lu book since finishing the Legend trilogy in 2015. By chance I came across the synopsis of Warcross and when I saw it was about a female bounty hunter who illegally hacks into a game I knew I had to get it. I don’t often reach for science fiction, but if it’s Marie Lu I’m here for it.

Starry Eyes – Although I’ve read a lot of YA contemporaries so far this year most of them have been really disappointing which is why I was very happy to hear a lot of positive buzz surrounding Starry Eyes here on the blogosphere! The book has a very unique setting in the wilderness, where the two main characters become stranded alone after a camping trip goes wrong. Nothing like rugged North Californian territory to bring people together, eh?

We Are the Ants – This book has been on my radar for so long but I’ve never been sure whether I would like it. Well I don’t know what past me was thinking because this book sounds like all kinds of amazing! The main character, Henry, has had a pretty though home life and on top of that he has been periodically abducted by aliens for years. When they tell him the fate of world rests on his shoulders he isn’t sure whether the world deserves saving. He has 144 days to weigh out the pros and cons and maybe find something worth living for.

A List of Cages – I haven’t heard much about this book in the book community but when I read the synopsis on Goodreads it was an instant must-buy. The story follows Adam who is suddenly reunited with his foster brother Julian whom he hasn’t seen in five years. As they spend more time together, Adam slowly realises Julian is keeping secrets about his whereabouts and current foster home. Although involvement could cost them their life, Adam is adamant to help Julian no matter what. I’ve heard it’s a very heartbreaking and emotional read so best to prepare my tissues in advance.

That’s it! I tried taking my own photos for this post, hope you guys like it ♡

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? If not, will you be adding any to your TBR? Do you also have books you’ve bought because of the booking blogosphere/community? Let’s chat in the comments!♥

Until next post,

What a fantastic haul – so many great books here! I recently read My Lady Jane because of all the hype surrounding that title, I was very curious and, it was a fun read indeed! I didn’t laugh out loud like so many people did, unfortunately, but I still had a lot of fun reading it. I hope you will, too! 😀
YAY for Warcross, I LOVED that one so, so much, I hope you’ll feel the same way. A List of Cages was also fantastic and heartbreaking, I sobbed, it was so beautiful and these boys, I had feelings haha. I hope you’ll love it 🙂
I can’t wait to read Starry Eyes, I’m all for sweet contemporaries and that one sounds SO great 😀

Oh I didn’t mean to scare you at all haha – A List of Cages is an incredible book, really, it’s just a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. If you love these kind of books though, I’m sure you should love that one as well 😀
